I know I have been heavy on the events the last couple weeks but when it gets warm the events get rampant. “Friday’s at Sunset” is an outdoor concert series in Richmond, VA. The concerts are held outdoors at Kanawha Plaza (8th & Canal sts) in the business district of downtown Richmond. The way its setup makes for a pretty cool concert atmosphere. The streets are blocked off in a way that the stage is in the middle of the street and facing the stage the park is to the right and a few blocks cordoned off in the center and right of the stage. Some people bring blankets to sit in the grass in the park but most bring the fold up lawn chairs (as seating is very limited). There is also an area around the park that has various food & retail vendors. The show usually starts after 8pm as sun is falling behind you with the artist performing in front of you. If it rains the shows are moved to Landmark Theatre. The last time I went it was Eric Roberson and Erykah Badu. (very awesome show) It’s definitely something to check out if you are looking for a quick weekend trip. I actually just went down and back as its about 90 minutes from DC. Of course I have the schedule laid out below.
