I was planning on doing an artist profile on someone I ran across while update the events listing but something caught my eye this morning. I was reading the paper and read an excerpt about the documentary on “A Tribe Called Quest”. I never got the memo but now that I have, its definitely on my must see list.
‘Quest is one of my favorite hip hop acts of all time. Apparently they are one of actor/director Michael Rapaport’s favorites as he put together the project. The film follows the group’s 1991 departure of founding member Jarobi White, the breakup in 1998, the reunion, and even some of the bitter disagreements. It also examines Phife’s health issues battling diabetes and a kidney transplant. The movie opens in DC on July 15th at the E Street Cinema.
